Duration of scholarship:

The duration of scholar is same as the study duration which is confirmed when the students enter our university. There is no extension in principle.
The foreign students can learn Chinese for one year in the School of International Education in Tianjin University.

Details and standards of the scholarship program:
1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, fee for internship, fee for basic learning material and intramural accommodation;
Accommodation condition: Master's ：double-bed room；PhD: one-bed room
2. Living allowance and one-off settlement subsidy
(1) Standard of Living allowance: (RMB)
Master’s: 1,700 RMB/month; PhD: 2.000 RMB/month
(2)The new student will get 1,500RMB as the one-off settlement subsidy
3. Offer the outpatient medical service and comprehensive medical insurance for the students under Chinese Government Scholarship Program

Qualification for the applicants:
1. Non-Chinese citizens with good health;
2. Education and age requirements
For Master’s applicants: holding a Bachelor degree, under the age of 35.
For PhD applicants: holding a Master degree, under the age of 40.

Application materials:
The applicants must fill in and submit the following application materials according to the facts (both duplicated)
1. The applicants need to log on the website of School of International Education, Tianjin University to download the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Program and Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
(1) Fill in the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship Programin English or Chinese by typing, with the photo on. The original and a copy need to be submitted;
(2)Fill in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form in English (keep the original and a copy with yourself). The applicants should strictly take the examination according to the requirements in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. The application forms which don’t meet all the requirements, such as, without photo of the applicant, no paging seal, no seal from the hospital or no signature of the doctor are invalid. The valid period for the examination result is 6 months, please arrange the time for the exam accordingly.
2. The notarized certificate of the highest diploma and transcript. If the applicant is an undergraduate, need to submit the graduation certificate and transcript given by the school he or she is studying now. ?The certificate and transcript which are not in English or Chinese version should be translated into English or Chinese version and also be notarized.
3. Need to submit a research plan for the period studying in China, not less than 800 words in English or Chinese.
4. The applicants who apply for Master’s need to submit the recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two teachers with titles of /or above associate professors; the applicants who apply for the PhD need to submit the recommendation letters in English or Chinese from two teachers with title of professor.
5. copy of the passport
6. the applicant who don’t need to study Chinese, have to submit us the HSK6(or above) certificate.
The applicants need to mail all above application materials to: Admission Office of School of International Education, Tianjin University.
Application materials will not be returned regardless of the result of application.
Matriculation and Notice:
(1) The application will not be processed if it is inconsistent with the recruitment requirements or the materials are incomplete. We will view all the application material, and merit for admission.
(2) We will send the Admission Noticeand Visa Application Form for Study In China(Jw201) tothe final accepted applicants.

Duration of Study : 6 months or more, 20 hours/week.

Different levels of courses are offered: zero level beginning, elementary, intermediate and advanced.

Main Course:

1. Language Skill Course:

Listening, Conversation, Reading, Character Writing, Intensive Reading, etc..

2. Chinese Literature and Culture Course:

Lectures on Chinese culture, Chinese Literature, Film Appreciation, Calligraphy, Painting, Folk Music, Peking Opera, Taiji boxing, etc.

3. Language Practice Course:

Extracurricular Language Practices, Folklore Field Study, Visits to Historical and Culture Places, etc. Also, a variety of elective courses are offered as well, such as Business Chinese and Executive Chinese, HSK Preparation, etc.

Culture Activity:

During study period and vacations, the university often arranges various extracurricular language practices, cultural, sports and recreational activities, such as lectures on Chinese history and culture ,table tennis matches, performances of Chinese songs, sitcoms directed and played by international students, etc..

Conversation, Reading, Listening, visits to the city, Taiji boxing and Peking Opera,etc.

Culture Activity & Field Trips:

Visit to historical and cultural places, etc. Trip to Beijingat one's own expenses.

Summer course is from June to August; Winter course is from December to January.

Groups of students are normally accepted via cooperative partners and the number of students per class should be more than 10. Courses and activities can be arranged at the request of the groups.
